OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Measuring 3 years – JM style!!

Thought you might enjoy some of the landmarks that are reasons to celebrate Jersey Made’s 3rd Anniversary!!

Opened on 12/2/2009 with:

8 artists (now there are 38 coming from all over the state)

0 beekeepers (3 local beekeepers supply honey to Jersey Made)

0 Facebook fans have grown to about 1070

The 778 square feet of Jersey Made was not really filled to capacity on 12/2/2009.    Now customers claim there is so much to see!!!

Jersey Made has filed sales tax with the State of New Jersey for 36 months.  Plus payment to NJ artists.   Both of these create money that goes right back into our state and important reasons to buy local!

The classes have grown and a whole bunch of kids have been inspired by art classes here.    The Altered Book class is celebrating 100+ classes!

There are a few things that only seem to happen here!    Regulars know the importance of our Harry Potty.   It has gone through 2 sets of antique doorknobs, locked countless people inside and has it’s own journal.      Shenanigans seem to happen here but I suppose that is what happens when creative people and friends gather!

I hope you enjoyed this humorous side of the way Jersey Made has grown over the last 3 years.    Here’s to many more celebration!!

Busy Bee Farm

Many thanks to Busy Bee Farm for inviting artists and photographers to visit the farm and see the lavender blooming.   It is easy to see why the bees like it there.   What a wonderful place!

Over 5000 lavender plants cover the growing area.   The hives are lined up all around the perimeter and you could see the bees enjoying the lavender.

This week the lavender is ready and you can go to the farm and cut your own!

Check their website for the dates and times available:   Busy Bee Farm

The “Teapot Garden” was very special and had wrought iron table and chairs so we could sit a spell to enjoy it!!

Toni told us about Bon Jovi, the rooster, but we didn’t quite understand that until we actually saw him for ourselves.    What a guy!!   hahaha

Jersey Made is excited to have the honey of the Busy Bee Farm.    The Lavender Honey has been quite popular.    The Apple Mint Honey is now available – this is  seasonal so only available for limited time!!

Window at Robin’s Nest

Many thanks to the Robin’s Nest Restaurant for inviting Jersey Made to be on display for the month of May!     The restaurant is located at entryway into Mill Race Village on Washington and White Streets.    Don’t just walk by to see the window displays – go in and eat or drink!!!

The display featured a focus on local!   The many talented artists at Jersey Made are all local to New Jersey, many right here in Mount Holly.    Jersey Made continues to be a support of The 3/50 Project.   Check out their new “LookLocal” app for iPhones!!

Time for Mead!

Jersey Made sells honey!

Hammernought Armory sells kits to make mead!

Together Jersey Made and Hammernought have been offering the main ingredients to create mead.  It seemed only right that I should give it a try too.   So a friend and I mixed up a batch.   9 days later we had turned a jug of water, 2 jars of blueberry honey, and a blueberry mead kit into a delicious adult beverage!!!

Jersey Made now has 4 different varieties of honey – blueberry, lavender as well as wildflower from 2 different areas.   Of course it is all made by the busy bees of New Jersey!!

Lavender and honey…

Saturday was the Fire & Ice Festival in Mount Holly.    It was a warm and beautiful day for spring but not quite the right weather for ice carving.    Still there were bunches of people who came out to enjoy the event.

Jersey Made looked wonderful and festive for the day!    Displays throughout the shop were looking great, including the new honey and lavender area.    The lavender honey has been so popular that most all of it was sold during the event.    In addition to the honey Jersey Made is also carrying lavender products from Busy Bee Farm.   The honey/lavender soap is lightly scented and comes in heart and flower shapes.    The lavender sachets (pictured above) are so pretty.     Another specialty item by Busy Bee Farm is the lavender sugar that is meant for that extra special accent to your culinary and baking recipes.
